Updated 17th Feb: Pranita’s been found!! Yaaaaaaay!
Pranita Shrestha has been missing from Tuesday 19 January 2010. She was last known to be waiting for a train at New Delhi Railway station. She was travelling alone, to Kalimpong to visit her parents. Dont know how / if it would help, but do spend 2 minutes to visit the blog “Find Pranita” and spread the word. You never know, someone, somewhere may have some information about her. Someone might just read your blog, and identify her. You never know. Each little bit adds up.
I dont know this woman personally. I’m hoping that this turns out to be one of those Internet hoaxes.. But her disapperance sends a shiver down my spine.
It could have been me.
It could have been you.
It could’ve been my son, my husband, my parents. Left without me. Wondering what happened to me.
How many times I’ve travelled alone. How many times have I been at a railway station, at a bus station, heck, at an airport in a foreign land, all alone. Sometimes, with little or no contact with my loved ones. And I was irritated when my folks kept calling every 2 hours to check on me. I thought they were being paranoid. Now, that I have Goosh, I understand.
You go about your everyday, trusting it will be like every other day. Trusting, assuming, that no harm will happen to you, or your loved ones. Incidents like this, just shake me. How little it takes for everything to go wrong. For life to be unsuspectingly turned inside out.
Then you numb yourself. You say, this wont happen to me. And you move on with your life.
And what hurts worse, is that in this great land called India, crimes and incidences like this, go unsolved, unpunished. And they are probably hundreds of such incidences happening every year. There’s not much we can do.
Or maybe we can.
A little bit.
Thanks to the amazing power of the Internet.
Spread the word. Let others know.
Maybe, just maybe, someone might read this and spot Pranita.
