What is it about being amongst new people that puts Goosh on his best behaviour!?!? He’ll laugh and play and smile and gurgle…even if it’s midnight. But at home, post 7pm, he’s one cranky jumpy kid. Biting and screaming and kicking.
So we went to the doc’s y’day for his vaccination. A good one hour wait – inspite of prior appointment – and we had a role reversal. The parents were cranky and irritable. And kiddo all chirpy, enjoying exploring the place and playing with the nurses.
Come our turn with the doc, this guy nicely reaches out to her for a handshake. And we grin – proud parent moment. He hardly ever does it when we ask him to. She smiles and complies. Thrilled, he reaches out for a handshake – every 2 minutes for the rest of the conversation! All the while, jumping back and forth, onto the table and off, tugging at this and that, and smiling and cooing.
When its time to leave, he blows her a flying kiss. Something he never does for Mommy. It’s reserved for everyone else!
And then says “bay-bai”, flashes her a huge grin and waves his hand regally.
She must’ve been thinking we’re such nutty parents asking her how to calm him, get over his biting and scratching sprees, how to get him to sleep etc etc – all for this sweet child!
