Of late, I havent had the time to write. Or to follow details of the elections. But this news item I saw browsing thru the TV channels y’day forced me to break my silence.
I saw the SP (Samajwadi Party) manifesto.
Amongst other things, here’s what they promise to do for us, the Indian ‘samaj’
– Abolish ‘expensive english schools’ and the use of computers
– Ban trading on the stock exchange
– Ban use of machinery in agriculture. Go back to ‘our roots’ – use bullock carts.
I’m still speechless. Who the hell comes up with a manifesto like that in this day and age! Heck, even a 5 year old kid can do better.
Who in their right mind would vote for such ‘radical change’ ?!?
But you never know, with Indian politics & elections, even the SP with such an incredulous manifesto will get votes. I just pray fervently that they dont win.
Given the SP’s aversion to English and computers, its no wonder their manifesto isnt put up on their website.
ANd this is what rediff has to say.
