Junior has become quite adventurous. Yesterday, he decided he wanted to do some rock climbing. Yes, even though he’s all of 2 months old. So how does he go about it.. simple .. start climbing on Mommy!
The little fellow can barely hold his head. He still hasn’t got control over his hands and feet. But he’s proven he’s got his Mom’s genes and started rock climbing – or should I say Mommy climbing 🙂
It’s 10:30 pm. I’ve just fed and burped him. I lean back on the wall and hold him to me, rocking him to sleep. Or so I thought. The little fellow awoke, all eager and wide eyed and started climbing. He moved his feet around, dug into my ribs, looking for a foothold. Then he got lucky and found my right hand. He plonked both his feet on my hand and reached out with his little hands (I was still holding him with one hand). He kind of held on to my hair. He pushed with all his might and almost jumped out of my grip! He had discovered his legs! He’d learnt how to push with them and jump around and look at the world!!! Now there was no looking back!
His feet could barely hold his weight.. but that didnt stop him. For the next 1 hour, he was insatiable. He kept climbing over me. Pushing with his legs, jumping, reaching out with his hands.. Cooing and gurggling and grinning. So thrilled he was.
Each time I kept him down, he’d whine and pout and cry. I had to hold him up against me and let him climb me.. or hold him and let him jump using my hand as a launching pad. He loved that one!
The little brat then moved over to Dad and went right ahead climbing and cooing.
Finally at 11:30pm, he called it a day and decided he’d had enough. But poor fellow.. all that strenous exercise left him hungry and tired. Another round of feeding. A 15 minute nap. And waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnn .. he started bawling. More feeding. And burping and rocking him.. but he just kept on bawling. I cant figure out if its colic, or the cold, or what. By now everyone else in the house is asleep. It’s just me and Junior. Then brainwave – I heated up some oil, put Junior infront of the heater and massaged his little legs for a good while. Feed him again. Finally, at 1:30am, we both drifted off to some oh-so-welcome-sleep…
