Remember the maid saga. Well, it continues.
Anjali, who’d been taking care of Goosh for the last few months, has gone off to her village for a month. She left her sister as a replacement.. but the Goosh starts screaming as soon as he sees this new lady. It’s been this way for almost week now. HD (now that he’s back!! hurray!!!!) and I are going crazy.
And anyways this wasnt quite working out, because she came in only 9 to 6. All the other time I was on my own. Juggling chores and kiddo.
I’m desperately, desperately looking for some live-in help. A lady who can stay with us and take care of all household chores.
The plan is have Anjali take care of Goosh once she’s back. While the new lady handles all household chores and cooking.
PLEASE, PLEASE do let me know if you know of anyone.
Am hoping the 2 maid scheme will work.
Also, would really like to know how all other working moms handle things. What’s your arrangement? How do you juggle office, housework & kids? Do you have live in help? An ayah? A maid? 2 maids? More
??

loads of folks i know have live-in helps. they do childcare, cooking and overseeing the extra help who is usually hired to do the bathrooms. the monthly rate in my neighborhood seems to be around 5 to 6 k, plus food/medical expenses. and they take 3-4 weeks off per year.
there are several agencies to source these helps from, but better would be word-of-mouth type of recommendations if you can tap into any local networks.
i have a live in maid who looks after only ojas, another maid who comes to do the house keeping and I do the cooking, the live in helps with cutting veggies etc
mail me I will give u the no of the agency I got my live in from
oh well. i am not fond of live in maids, but whatever works best for you. i have an Amma who comes from 10am – 8pm and does the housework as well.
but ofcos for us she was already doing our ghar ka kaam and she agreed to make the transition. Monika’s agnecy sounds like a good bet.
and when we are dependent on maids these kinda hiccups are inevitable and bound to leave us very angry and frustrated. but then we cant have it all i guess!
hope you find a solution soon!
cheers!
Working 8 to 4. No help before. No help after. Life in Phoren sucks:-(
oh and good luck:-) Am sure something good will crop up!
Let me begin by saying: awesome pic, u and Goosh amongst green fields. It has a calming effect on me
An Indian cook from 7:45am for an hr, then Phillipino nanny (was part-time since Rian was 2 months) from 9am to 6pm.
HD leaves @ 8am, comes in @6pm. I leave @ 9:30am, come back @ 7pm.
hey, can imagine your plight !!
i have a live in maid and live in cook, the maid takes care of the baby and household chores and cook handles the entire kitchen. makes my life easier
try it out. also you get maids who just come to cook half day, you can try them too, would be a good help.
Tk Cr
@chox: most ppl I’ve asked had the same problem
You can get a 9to6 maid.. but live-in.. impossible ! Do let me know ifyou know of anyone.
@monika: thanks for sharing. and kala tikka, nazar na lage and all that jazz all over again
@abha: turns out that the agency Monika uses, is the same one that had me running around for a month!! Read the maid saga. Damn.
@MGM: you’re definitely super woman!!! I hope the Viking isnt like most Indian men and pitches in to help! I’m at office just 11 to 5 .. plus an hour’s commute… and that just kills me by the end of the day!
@mamta: Neat arrangement.
@shalini: u are one lucky lady!! 2 live-in helps!!! WOW.
sounds like a very heard about woe.. my sister faced a lot of this, before she finally got a live in maid, who helps her with the household and takes care of her son while she is away to office; and luckily she is so good (they stumbled on her after 2 hopeless live in maids) that she can handle the kid and the house very well even if both my sister and jijaji are out of town on work.. cool isn’t it??
Though i don’t have details of where exactly she found her, i know its through an agency in Bangalore itself. if you haven’t found a maid to your satisfaction yet, just put in a word, i’ll get the details from my sister.
keep blogging. Its been a pleasure reading all your posts. hi to goosh..
